fine-honed steel is dull compared to unrequited love

whose blade cuts deeper than the axe

that headsmen wield above

to love so deep that one would weep

sheer tears of joy when found

and heart elate first kiss we take

then loneliness profound

to hope too much to wish too hard

is love's sure suicide

better it was never known

than see it turn aside

third Promise made

                                your secret I keep

                                                               vulnerabilities exposed

still no regrets for all we shared

worth more than silver and gold

my own Promise I share with you

none else shall I love again

no woman I'll touch no one I'll love

all pale in comparison

and every time I touch myself

my thoughts will turn to you

I shall not share that special part

my soul wants only you

and if someday we find our way together, surely then

you'll know you have my loyalty:

I shall love none again.
