I understand, these things all click

I understand the bomb that ticks

I understand rage in disguise

I see it in the face and eyes

I understand the well of hate

The boiling pools that won't abate

I understand the lack of faith

The loss of hope haunts like a wraith

I understand why people kill

Themselves or others, I see it well.

These blinders, now, have been removed

When nothing that you say or do

Can touch another's heart within

Descend into the dark of men

Just emptiness inside.

I see it all inside of me

Though all is loss, still empathy

remains . . .

                    like poison in the veins.
