Scene 15

15.       KIRA ENTERS HER QUARTERS QUICKLY, STOPPING TO PLACE HER

HANDS ON THE BACK OF A CHAIR BEFORE SILENTLY WEEPING.  SHE

TURNS HER HEAD AND SEES HERSELF IN THE MIRROR, THEN

STRAIGHTENS HERSELF AND WIPES HER EYES.  SHE WANDERS

TOWARD A CABINET AND OPENS IT, PULLING A SMALL, HALF-

PAIRED LOCKET FROM BENEATH SOME CLOTHING ITEMS.  SHE CUPS

IT IN HER HANDS AND WALKS OVER TOWARD HER COUCH BEFORE

DECIDING TO SIT.  TAKING A DEEP BREATH, SHE OPENS THE LOCKET

AND STARES AT THE SMALL PHOTO WITHIN.  CLOSE SHOT REVEALS

THE IMAGE OF A MALE INFANT.  KIRA PEERS AT THE PHOTO,

CLOSES HER FIST AROUND IT AND CURLS UP INTO THE FETAL

POSITION ON THE COUCH, TEARS WELLING AGAIN IN HER EYES.
