Scene 5

5.         CHIEF O’BRIAN AND JAREN WALK OFF OF THE TURBO LIFT AND

INTO OPS.  THEY HAVE BEEN DISCUSSING REPAIRS ON JAREN’S

SHIP.  AS THEY REACH THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS BELOW SISKO’S

OFFICE, KIRA SEES THEM AND DOES HER BEST TO HIDE AROUND

            DAX’S CONSOLE.  KIRA APPEARS DISCONCERTED.

O’BRIAN

Well, it’s hard to say, doctor.  Those fissures from

the reactor damage may continue to expand unless

you have the entire warp propulsion system overhauled.

That could take as long as six months.

JAREN

(sighs very seriously)  Well, Chief, I may have to take

that ride from the Ferrengi after all.  That cargo has to

arrive on Bajor in 72 hours, or it may be too late to begin

treatment.  That neuroagent becomes very unstable over

                                    a short time.

O’BRIAN

We’re doing our best, doctor, to make temporary repairs.

(points upstairs)  Here’s Commander Sisko’s office.

Jaren nods and walks up the stairs.  Kira watches cautiously as Jaren enters Sisko’s office.  Dax gives Kira a curious look which Kira responds to by smiling as though nothing’s wrong.
